I think what you’re doing is wonderful! I similarly couldn’t let my interests and passions sit back anymore which is why I’ve started The Lantern Post and Quid Creepers a collection of zines on Fen Folklore but doing field investigation on local folklore is awesome!
Looking forward to learning with you. My interest is not dormant but bubbles along, never really reaching boiling point. If you’re near Norwich pop into the cathedral and take a look at the fabulous Green Men there.
Thank you ☺️ I love your description of a bubbling interest! I’ll have to look out for the Green Men at Norwich cathedral, I’ve been before but we (mainly my kids!) were there for the dippy the dinosaur skeleton exhibition 😆
Sounds fascinating and I’m looking forward to reading. I visited the Blickling Estate last year and they have a large second hand bookshop there that (at the time) had lots of books about this very thing if you are looking for source material. ☺️
I’ve subscribed! We cover much of the same area (I too am a Norfolk girl and my Substack focuses on the folklore under our feet!) so I think our work will compliment each other’s.
Hello, I subscribed you and I am going to read your posts. It’s a very interesting field to do research and bring the natural realm alive to our daily lives.
I woke up for the richness of fairy tales in Scotland, where I lived some years ago. I found curious that the folklore and mythologies around the fairies seems to be more alive in the North of Europe, in comparison with the South of Europe from where I am originally. This is just my perception, but I may be wrong.
My time in Scotland and in England allowed me to write a children’s book that takes us to to the Kingdom of Queen Titania and to the Celtic mythology.
